Year in Review 2021

Another year? Already?

The ol’ time flies sentiment really rang true for us in 2021. New clients, new employees, new babies and new love lives. So much new around here! But don’t worry, we’re the same Tegan you’ve always loved. Maybe just a little taller. And with a cooler haircut.

This year was extra special for a lot of reasons. We celebrated our ten year anniversary as an agency, an incredible milestone for any industry- especially ours. We also celebrated our most decorated award season yet, earning 30 awards (and counting) for multiple completed projects. The trophy case is getting awfully full, and we really like it that way.

New Partnerships

Meet some of our newest clients turned best friends. We work together, Zoom together, and will probably vacation together soon. Too far?

img

Temple Emanu-El

Dallas’ oldest and most well respected Jewish congregation is beloved by the community as a welcoming, safe space to encounter God and his people. We’ve loved working with the Temple team. We’d also really love to score an invite to their Hanukkah party this year. Fingers crossed.

img

Dents.co

Our new friends hail from Dents.co. Their revolutionary technology is positioned to transform the auto-collision industry, and we are thrilled to be along for the ride. (Yes, we make automobile puns as often as possible with these guys. They love it.)

img

Notary.io

The online notarization platform makes an often dreaded process completely pain free. The service is for Texas businesses, with a heavy focus on real estate and law firms. Notary.io reached out to us to pull together a paid media plan, inclusive of paid search and lead generating tactics. In exchange for a few free notaries, we were happy to oblige.

New Launches

Websites, apps, marketing campaigns and social strategies. We’ve completed a lot of projects over the past 12 months.

The Birthday Party Project

In February, we launched The Birthday Party Project’s new site, complete with confetti, balloons, and the cutest birthday faces you ever did see. With a fresh color palette and StoryBrand messaging, the rebrand better illustrates the nonprofit's mission of JOY. I dare you to check it out without smiling.

img

Chartwell Partners

Chartwell Partners’ new site successfully launched in May. With fresh designs, new photography and a modern color scheme, the updated digital platform is a more accurate representation of the firm’s caliber of success. Truth be told, the Chartwell crew makes business-professional look cool.

img

The Legacy Senior Communities

The new site for The Legacy Senior Communities went live this summer. Fresh photography, videography and drone footage brought new life to the Legacy’s digital presence. With updated branding and a more user-friendly platform, the new site engages residents and future residents alike. As the Legacy’s Agency of Record, our team also developed and executed the group’s social strategy and media planning, including TV, print, direct mail and more. If you come across any of the ads, you’ll want to retire much sooner. Like tomorrow.

img

Safe Harbor Marinas

We launched a new Android app for Safe Harbor Marinas this summer, Safe Harbor Water. The app allows both iOS and Android users access to Safe Harbor’s nationwide network of waterfront locations. The platform also allows members into Safe Harbor Marketplace, an exclusive opportunity for buying and selling boats. There’s a few fishing boats on there that John’s been eyeing. He caught three fish this year and suddenly, he’s a professional fisherman.

Around The Office

After 18 months of working completely remote, we finally decided to put on real pants and reopen the headquarters in June. We’re now gathering as a team on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the office. It’s been hard to get used to real life work, since there’s no camera off button when you’re in person. But we’re adjusting. We enjoy each other’s company, a solid Taylor playlist, and making fun of John.

img

Welcome Julianne!

We welcomed Julianne to the design team in October. Julianne specializes in graphic design and fantastic illustrations, and puts our stick figures to shame on the daily. She is Lady Gaga’s biggest fan, a UNT alum, and introduced us to the London Fog Tea Latte at Starbucks (it’s as classy as it sounds). She also just moved into a swanky new condo and we can’t wait for the house-warming party. She hasn’t invited us… yet.

img

New Love Lives

Pretty sure someone spiked the Topos at the office, because love is in the air at Tegan. In this year alone, Kelsey and Jacey both got engaged, and two other members of the crew updated their relationship status. We don’t want to embarrass anyone so we won’t call them out. But it’s Laura and Ryan.

Cue the
baby fever

Proud Parents

With 11 kids, 6 dogs, 2 cats and an insane amount of houseplants between us, you can only imagine how many “proud mom” bumper stickers we have. Morgan welcomed Tegan’s tiniest team member in August, sweet baby Norah. We’ve crunched the numbers and conducted the proper searches and it’s official- she is the cutest baby ever.

Jacey’s pup, Bernie George, frequents the office most. He works magic in the conference room. We call him the closer.

img

Movers & Shakers

In true Tegan fashion, our team is movin’ on up in the world. We’re the up early, overachiever, first ones in class kind of bunch. Some say dorky. We prefer amazing.

Kelsey was accepted into the Morning Brew’s Accelerator program, an 8-week business program for super magicians. She also serves on the DFW Interactive Marketing Association’s board. When does Kelsey sleep, you ask? No one knows.

img

Movers & Shakers

Laura was recently promoted to Senior Account Executive because she is the master of Senior Account Executive things. She’s also the master of ending Zoom calls before the lingering, awkward good-byes. It’s a true gift.

img

Movers & Shakers

Morgan is representing Tegan West well, and serves as a proud board member of the American Advertising Federation of Colorado. She also hikes in the mountains daily, gets to wear jackets year round, and her backyard scenery looks photoshopped. We hate her for all of this.

We communicate partly in English, a little in eyerolls, and mostly in emojis. Sometimes there’s Spanish in the mix, but that’s just when John is running on no sleep.

Team App

Tie: Sonos and Spark

Most every hour of every work day, we’ve got a stellar playlist on the speakers, and a stellar email in the works. Two of our teammates still insist on using Outlook instead of Spark. Looking at you, Carley and Aaron. Time to come out of the Dark Ages.

Typeface of the Year

Midnight Sans by Colophon

From the foundry: “Midnight Sans was initially drawn for Gary Green’s ‘When Midnight Comes Around’, published by our friends at STANLEY/BARKER in 2020. The Condensed-only style embodied a warm but idiosyncratic flavour: a reflection of the publication’s photographs, which document the burgeoning downtown alternative music scene of 1970s New York City.”

img
Artist of the Year

Taylor Swift

For the second year in a row, we’re awarding T-Swift Tegan’s critically acclaimed Artist of the Year award. Let it be known, LANY was a close second. Ryan pretends to hate them, but we caught him almost bobbing his head along last week. He might be their biggest fan.

Never Have I Ever

If plowing through a TV series was a sport, we would be gold medalists. When Aaron claims he’s “heads down” working on a website upstairs, we know he’s just rewatching Bridgerton. Typical.

Award Season

Like we said, 2021 marks our most decorated year yet. We haven’t brought home a Grammy, but we’re pretty sure that’s just a tragic oversight.
