Three Podcasts to Make You a Smarter Digital Marketer
Hosted by New York Times bestselling author, public speaker, and business owner, Donald ‘Don’ Miller. Donald is the CEO of StoryBrand, a company that helps businesses clarify their marketing and messaging. After studying what makes storytellers and movies so captivating, Donald brought all these elements together and developed a marketing framework that businesses can use to captivate and engage customers. He breaks down his framework in his book, Building a StoryBrand.
The StoryBrand podcast features interviews from thought leaders in the business world, and real world examples of the success of the StoryBrand framework. Don has good rapport with his co-host, J.J. Peterson, who has a unique knack for being able to rib Miller with just the right tact. The banter is just the right amount before diving into an interview. Miller often points out that he feels like he’s learning a ton from each guest, along the lines of his very own on-the-job MBA. While some of the content can feel a bit sales-y, what I appreciate most is that Miller is all about helping brands win. If it doesn’t convert, he’s not interested. This is refreshing, in that even though Miller is a creative mind, he always picks clarity over being clever.
Experience Design (XD Podcast)
Hosted by Design Strategist, Tony Daussat. Tony’s passion for design started at a young age, making fake logos in Microsoft Paint ‘95. Since then, his journey has led him through branding, to identity, to web design, and ultimately to his true calling, UX. On his podcast, Tony dives in to conversations on design, leadership, marketing and entrepreneurship with a variety of guests. Daussat harps on curiosity, which he believes is a key component of what any good designer. Tony asks every guest to share their most cherished non-digital item in their life. Responses range from a car, themselves, and even a shovel.
Older episodes are hosted by national best-selling author, career expert and nationally syndicated radio host of The Ken Coleman Show. Ken is a self-proclaimed professional question-asker who’s conducted hundreds of interviews and has concluded that most of us are in pursuit of the same thing: significance. He draws from his own career experience and helps people discover what they were born to do and provides practical steps to make their dream job a reality. His second book, The Proximity Principle: The Proven Strategy That Will Lead To The Career You Love, released May 2019.
The EntreLeadership podcast features lively discussions and tips on leadership and business by some of the top minds in the business, like Mark Cuban, Seth Godin, Jim Collins and Simon Sinek.
New episodes are hosted by Ramsey Solutions Business Leadership Coach, Alex Judd. If you want to go beyond awareness of your unique role to actionable conversations on how to use your role to make an impact, this is the podcast you need to listen to.
